A TASTE OF STYLE

It’s that time of year when the lure of a cosy bar or pub beckon yet autumn’s glorious sunshine teases us with a possible appearance. A hop, skip and a jump away from some of House of Kip’s finest portfolio, Chucs is one of our newcomer favourites to deliver the ultimate autumn London haunt.

Located in the heart of South Kensington on the Old Brompton Road, Chucs Café Kensington is part of a collection of much-acclaimed eateries taking London by storm. As a by-product of the eternally stylish clothing brand, the new café concept opened earlier this year under the direction of Graziano Arricale to mark the group’s dip into the casual dining scene.

Lining an iconic Kensington street, the space takes hues from the boulevard cafés of Paris with sentiments of fifties charm hailing from the effortless glamour of Italy and the Cote D’Azur. In one word, this space is sexy with its design undeniably worth a visit. The interiors, evocative of Chucs’ other established London sites, have been reimagined by design team Fettle Studios and led by Andy Goodwin. The boutique interior architecture and design firm, specialising in hospitality design, have ensured luxury is the name of the game where rich tonal wood is complemented against a sumptuous colour palette and romantic textures. Think delicate pastel hues set against magnificent panoramas of coastal Europe, illustrious gold surfaces and Art Deco forms. Illicit thoughts of luxury sporting pastimes ring throughout – classic Italian sports cars, vintage train carriages and the elegance of yachts are simply divine.

Serving up a bright and welcoming space during the day, diners can enjoy a tantalising breakfast, such as house granola with flat peaches and yoghurt finished with Chucs’ legendary eggs benedict. And then onto lunch. When the sun is shining on London town, there’s no better space to while a few Kensington hours than its large wraparound terrace.

Lunchtime favourites, such as cobb salad, chicken palliard and seared tuna, can be devoured al-fresco style. Luckily Chucs Café Kensington has a mean cocktail list to match with one of their iconic Aperol Spritzes considered compulsory with any visit. Coffee aficionados will also delight at their partnership with Difference Coffee to serve up the meanest flat white. Chucs Café Kensington will also feature a La Marzocco Modbar. As a first of its kind, the Modbar disguises the complexity of the traditional coffee machine to redefine the aesthetics of the coffee space with an elegant and minimalist design.

Come evening, Chucs Café Kensington offers a supremely seductive experience in the evening. A perfect space to work your way through its extensive wine list and collection of ciccheti, or small plates.

The Chucs Restaurant & Café collection further incorporates the iconic Chucs Mayfair, Chucs Westbourne Grove nestled in the heart of Notting Hill and Chucs Harrods located within the luxurious confines of one of the world’s most-prestigious department stores. For those seeking to embrace the joys of the outdoors, Chucs Café at the Serpentine is a glorious addition to Kensington Gardens. This particular space is set within Zaha Hadid’s landmark Magazine restaurant as an extension to the gallery.

London has undoubtedly been treated with this latest escapade of eateries. You know where to find us this season…
